Hi lovelies! I’m JJ and this is Create Heart Happiness! You may be thinking,”What is that exactly?” Definition: to create a life you love and fill it with only what brings you happiness! For me, this means exploring my creativity and enjoying life’s treasures. I have always felt a strong desire to help inspire others find their creative joy and I hope to do just that for you too. ABOUT THE ARTIST: JJ is a wildlife artist, travel sketcher and workshop instructor based in Los Angeles, California as well as her newly opened studio in Montana. She enjoys traveling the world with her family and various artist groups, which recently included attending artists residencies to help further her studies. Her focus during her travels is the exploration of the local flora and fauna, where she deeply enjoys sketching and learning about wildlife and their habitats. Her lifelong passion for learning about our natural world, combined with creative expression through her art, brings her closer to understanding that world.
JJ enjoys using various tools, which is why her travel bag is usually filled to the brim with supplies. Currently, she mostly paints with watercolor and gouache combined with various inks and color pencils. Some of her work includes quick expressive ink studies since wildlife and urban settings tend to have many subjects on the move!
JJ attended Academy of Art University San Francisco and is an active member of both Urban Sketchers Los Angeles chapter and The Nature Journal Club founded by John Muir Laws. JJ has worked as a director and producer for art shows and as a color designer in animation. Her most current projects include teaching watercolor workshops and hosting Sketchbook Clubs.
